Churches are a great place for a used car salesmen to finally earn some money.

I believe the purpose of a church service is to come together to meditate in God. That actually sounds really creepy. But my church's service for me is archaic, stilted, dull, nonspiritual, and unchanging. So I try to avoid it as much as possible, for unfortunately my mother has worked in one for almost a decade now.

This has given me an intimate understanding of the inner politics of a church; there are good people, but there are some horrible rumor mongers too. It eventually drove me crazy, which is why I've almost had it with church hierarchy.

Anyways, I believe church is optional; if it makes you feel closer to God, fine, if it doesn't, find something else, like an art class or a hike.

Religions were created to control, the masses and they have done that very well.

they seve no purpose other than to provide a crutch for the weak willed and persons with little self belief.

they have been the cause and protagonist in every conflict this earth has seen

i am not a fan.

Church -ecclesia in the Greek/Bible - literally means "called out." The church therefore exists as disciples are called out of this world's lifestyles into the one commanded by Christ.
There are many different churches. Alleluia. There are also many different kinds of television stations, ways to eat chocolate, and methods of covering one's body. Different tastes exist in all areas of life. It is natural that God would allow the church to appeal to so many in so many different ways. And it is a fantastic witness to the wonder of God that He can tune into so many different channels.

I love my church. The people are loving and supportive. The pastor is knowledgable and willing to help others learn the Word. The praise and worship band is one of the best I have ever heard. I worship freely because it is such a great place to praise the Lord.

I think the whole system is devised around a bunch of money hungry hypocrites,,,,,,,Have you ever known a preacher (or whatever),,,that drove a piece of junk for a car,,,,or lived in a run down house,,,,,they always tell you ,,,""God wants you to give up your worldly possessions",,,,then they pass the plate,,,,pocket the money and spend it on themselves,,,,,,,its all a bunch of commercialized crap,,,,don't get me wrong,,,I believe in God,,and all of that,,,,but I DON'T believe you have to pray at a church to be heard

Church is supposed to be a place to go to worship God and fellowship with other believers as well as learn about and be instructed in the word of God.

That the people are the church, built on the rock of Jesus Christ. The cornerstone. that buildings have nothing to do with it. Agendas have nothing to do with it. It doesn't matter if you wear your Sunday best, or if your Sunday best is torn and dirty. That Jesus needs to be invited to be there. Cause that is what it is all about!

to me, church is a con, for when you go, you always have to give money...you dont reach god that way....god is with you every where ...you can drop down to your knees and pray and do it for free, but ofcourse nothing is free in this world, church is another way of saying you have to pay to talk to god...
