I take it only for pain relief. I am not to the point of drug seeking, (buying it off the streets, etc) I take only 5 or 6 or day on a bad day. My problem is that my doctor won't give me it very often because of regulations. I am scared to be thought of as a drug addict especially by my physician, but taking the medication is the only way I can function most days because of the pain.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You need to talk to your doctor NOW!!!!!! You are exceeding the doses of Tylenol and will end up killing you liver and youself. You doctor i'm sure has dealt with this in the past. CALL THE DOCTOR FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a very serious thing if you do not stop it now you will become a drug seeker. If the pharmacy catches you in anything illegal they will call the police i can assure you of that.

If you take it ONLY for pain relief, exactly as directed, you ARE NOT an addict. You are a chronic pain patient dependent on drugs to allow you to function comfortably. I am a chronic pain patient. If I don't take my meds, I can't get out of bed or do anything because the pain is so intense. You doctor doesn't think you are an addict either, he's just trying to abide by DEA regulations. You should get a pain management doctor. They will work with you to find a drug and dose that manges your pain the best with the fewest side effects. There is no shame in being someone who has pain that cannot be relieved except with narcotics. It doesn't make you an addict or a junkie.

If your pain is legitimate and long term I suggest you ask your doctor to refer you to a pain clinic. They are used to giving long term prescriptions for pain killers and regular doctors are not.

5 or 6 is actually considered a lot in one day. Depending on the state you are in, that might be over the max for long term vicodin.

If your pain is coming from trying to stop the vicodin I suggest you tell your doctor you need help stopping the medication.

Your pain might be not as bad as it seems. Going off the vicodin just makes the pain seem more strong and bad.

Tell your doc you are worried about being addicted to it. There are groups that can help. Some give addiction treatments through injections. There are lest addictive pain drugs.

Its like cigarettes, do you think it is going to be easy? Not by a long shot!!!!! You have to just quit. Mind over matter, If you don't mind it wont matter! I quit smoking and know that noting is easy. Ive also lost over twenty five pounds. You just have to walk away and say no more!!!! Its just has to be that way and you wont be a very nice person after doing this cause the withdrawals is going to be horrible but start on a day off of work or you'll lose alot of friends real quick. Sleep the first two days, that is what Ive done to quit smoking the first two days of withdrawals. Nothing in life is easy but you have to understand that you are the only one in control of your destiny and drugs will and always will RUIN your life if you let it to continue to happen. To be or not to be like Shakespear said. You can do either one if you want it bad enough. If you continue, your life is going to go to hell in a hand basket but that is up to you to decide!

the easiest and safest way to deal with this is to get your doctor's help. i promise you he or she has seem much worse. The doctor can help by giving you a strong but different pain med,; perhaps the doc can also refer you to a pain management group or clinic.

I promise this will be easier if you start by enlisting your doctor's help. Hiding this from your doc is a really good way to make this into an addiction.

Get off of it NOW. I was hooked on it for years, buying it on the streets, finding crooked Drs, etc. You will develop a tolerance from hell to it.I now take over the counter Alleve and it works just fine. Please stop now before you get as bad as I was.
