You've stumbled on a problem with the Koran. Mohammed's Koran assumes its readers already have heard of Allah. That's because he already existed as a pagan moon god for Arab tribes at the time. The moon god worship and ramadan (based on lunar patterns) and the kabbah were all pagan rituals before Mohammed ever did his bit.

The commencing place of the Moon is an fantastically exciting undertaking. for many, many an prolonged time there became rather no passable medical rationalization for the commencing place of the Moon. each and every attainable theory had a great flaw, inflicting that distinctive theory to could be thrown out. This lead some scientists to be forced to end that the Moon rather does not exist. yet then a extensive brainstorming convention became held, and it grew to become sparkling that a million) the Moon rather does exist, and 2) the Moon became in all probability formed by a extensive planet sized merchandise the dimensions of Mars or fairly greater desirable hitting the Earth at an oblique attitude, inflicting lots of the Earth's crust and outer mantle to be thrown out into Earth orbit, with a number of it coalescing to style the Moon. the the rest outer Earth crust grew to become the continents, that have floated aimlessly around ever because, specifically cases combining into one great land mass (pangea &/or gondwana) or fracturing into the countless separate continents, as is basically the case on the instant. This has lead some to call the Moon the "8th continent" (after Asia, Africa, N. u.s., S.u.s., Antactica, Europe, and Australia). besides the indisputable fact that, that's faulty to assert that the Pacific Ocean basin in step with se became formed by the shortcoming of the Moon, because of the fact the Pacific sea floor is barely 0-one hundred fifty million years previous, i.e. way too youthful to be as previous because of the fact the Moon, as one might assume in the event that they shared a elementary commencing place.

Now, now, folks. He doesn't know.
That's okay.
You don't know something, you ask.
That's what he's doing.
Folks come to Answers to learn.
So, use this as a teaching opportunity.
Not a misguided opportunity to attack.
Alla is one of God's many names. This particular one used mostly by the Islam religion, though I once heard (do not know as fact) that the name is older than that particular religion.
My favorite bit by Abdu'l-Baha at the Paris Talks on the topic goes as...
"It was the Divine Light which enabled the prophets to see two thousand years in advance what was going to take place and today we see the realization of their vision. Thus it is this Light which we must strive to seek, for it is greater than any other.
It was by this Light that Moses was enabled to see and comprehend the Divine Appearance, and to hear the Heavenly Voice which spoke to him from the Burning Bush.(1)
It is of this Light Muhammad is speaking when he says, `Allah is the light of the Heavens, and of the Earth'. "
(`Abdu'l-Baha: Paris Talks*, Page: 69)
I'm sure there are plenty of Muslims in here that can offer up official sites that you can research further.
As for the moon itself...
Your question is a bit confusing. Are you asking about the religion or the science?
As for the religion, it is a calander issue. Like the Baha' faith, Islam uses a lunar calander instead of the solar calander.
As for the physical, there are a couple of theroies on how the moon came about.
Here's a few places to find some answers:

Allah is God, He is not and never was the Moon God as you stated and never was that stated in the Quran.
The origin of the moon may be searched on Yahoo! to find what suits you best. (Astronomically/Religiously)
The Moon is used in a Muslim Calendar, unlike Gregorian Calendar that follows the Sun. They tell us the time of the month to fast, to celebrate Eid and other occasions. So it is only fair that Islam is different from other religion through its Calendar which follows the Moon.

Allah is not a moon God. Allah in arabic language means God.
He is God of Abraham, Moses and Jesus..
He is creator of everything ans moon as well..
Because arabs used to use moon calendar at the ancient times people have nowadays wrong impression about God whom muslims worship.
In Quran there is no any single word about "moon God"..
There are only words in Quran about that "moon has cold light to lighten the night and that moon is running on its orbit"..

Allah is not a moon god
see this quotes from the Quran please
Do Muslims worship the Moon???? Is "Allah" a lunar god?????????
Some people claimed that Muslims worshiped the moon & they said that the god of Muslims is a lunar god!!!!!!!!!! Now is this true???? Do Muslims actually worship the moon????
Below we're gonna investigate this issue...
Why do some people say that???
Probably to defame Islam or they are just ignorant Shallow minded people!!!!
OK suppose Muslims do really worship the moon…BUT still they are following their book (the Quran), isn't that right??? Off course it is!!!
Let's read the following verses from chapter 6 in the Quran talking about the story of Abraham when he was young:-
Verses from 74 to 79
-"Lo! Abraham said to his father Ázar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error.
-So also did We show Abraham the kingdom and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude.
-When the night covered him over, He saw a star: He said: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set.
-When he saw the moon rising in splendor, he said: "This is my Lord." But when the moon set, He said: "Unless my Lord guide me, I shall surely be among those who go astray.
-When he saw the sun rising in splendor, he said: "This is my Lord; this is the greatest (of all)." But when the sun set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from your (guilt) of giving partners to Allah.
- For me, I have set my face, firmly and truly, towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to Allah"
Quran proves - "Allah" is NOT a 'moon god':
"And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not bow down (prostrate) to the sun nor to the moon, but only bow down (prostrate) to "Allah" Who created them, if you (really) worship Him." [Quran 41:37]
NOW WHAT WOULD YOU SAY???????
It's crystal clear from those verses that we Muslims DON`T worship the moon
This shows us how much there are many people (especially in the west) who are IGNORANT ABOUT ISLAM & it also shows us that there are many people fighting Islam by spreading lies
So what's the case of the moon????
Muslims use the moon in their calendar to identify the end &/or the coming of a new month
The Hejri (Islamic) calendar is TOTALLY different from any other calendar. It depends on seeing the shape of the moon to identify the time….for example .Muslims date the Month of Ramadan (where they fast) when the moon becomes a crescent.
Also the Hejri month can be 30 or 29 days (only examining the shape of the moon will determine that) so in some years a Hejri month will be 30 & in other years it will be 29

sadly misinformed!!
READ THIS.
"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and We made every living thing from water? Will they not then believe?" (21:30)
"And He it is Who created the night and the day, and sun and the moon. They float each in an orbit… And from among His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him." (21:33, 41:37)
"He has created man: He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; the stars and the trees prostrate themselves [before Him]. And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short!" (55:3-9)
"It is Allah Who created everything in the best of form…It is He Who created and perfected all things." (32:7, 87:2)
"It is Allah Who created life and death that you may prove yourself worthy in your deeds." (67:2)
"Such is Allah, your Lord. There is no god except Him, the Creator of all things, so serve Him. And He takes care of all things." (6:102)
what does that tell you?

do you think you know better than muslims regarding who they worship?
this moon you see everywhere in Islamic country is because the month of Ramadan, this is the fasting month, and this is the month of which the Quran came down. we tell the beginning of Ramadan by looking at the shape of the moon, if the moon has been shaped in a certain way, then we declare the beginning of the month. stop misleading people about our religion.
