I have folks who tip anywhere from $5-25. Tips really help when you are working for someone.. As a hairdresser, we can get anywhere from 40-55% of what we make. If a hairdresser spends 45 min with you (washing, cutting and styling your hair) and you pay $20 for a haircut, she will most like likely only make $10.... that is a lot of work for $10! And remember, every haircut she gives is putting her name on the line. The tip you give is tax free and puts gas in their tank and food in their bellies.. I cant remember how many times I have had to count on getting tips just to have enough gas money to make it home or eat lunch when I was just starting out..

Most have to pay to rent their chair in the Salon/Shop. They don't get what you are paying, maybe not even half of it. I always tip.

one... those poor people are on their feet alll day to please people like you.
two... they work hard at what they do.
three.... they need to pay for their pain in their arms and legs some how.
four... most of us live off of our tips.
five... its a curtousy thing.
