Dress warmly and take him or her outside for some snow fun. Kids find pleasures in the simplest things, find your inner child and you will too.
Sometimes even though people say its bad, watching some TV can actually stimulate the mind. While he isnt ready for school just yet, allow him to watch educational programs. KET, PBS, and the Disney channel have some good ones, at the right time of the morning Nickelodean has some educational shows.
If you cant go outside, maybe you can bring the oustide in.
When I was younger several days after the first snow, we would make snow cream. Big bowls of snow, cream and sugar.
I havent made it in years, and here in Kentucky it usually just gets cold rather than snow. We havent had any good snow days since 2001.
Hope this helps!!!

When you cant go outside think of some games such as hide and seek and i spy. Sing songs right now would be a good time to teach your 2 yr old some nursery rhymes and alphabet. Do some arts and crafts that seems to be a big hit with my 2 yr old drawing is his favorite. Try doing some learning things too like going around the house and counting how many different things you can find or guessing colors or even finding shapes. There is so much you can do when you have to stay indoors. When and if it snows dress up in warm clothes you guys go outside and just have fun. Hope this helps

We do a lot at the local community centers - they usually have indoor parks. In our city, we have some restaurants that are geared towards children too. We have a burger king with a GREAT indoor play area that you have to pay $1 to get into. It is very safe and the adults can play in it too.

We also have some coffee shops geared towards kids. They have a ton of children toys, etc, and mom can get a cup of coffee or a light meal.

There are also some magazines that you can pick up that have family things to do in your city...

Finally, maybe a family pass to your local children's museum would be good. That way you can go whenever you want, but if you only have an hour, you don't feel guilty that you wasted money...

Good luck!

My daughter is 2 too. I am looking forward to making snowflakes out of constuction paper and pasting the walls with them. I want her and I to make a snow man in the yard. Pulling her around on the sled is fun for her and great exercise for me. Have a snowball fight. Get her good at throwing. Let her white wash you. When you're all done. Take a bath, drink some hot cocoa and watch the snow fall. I can't wait until winter.

I let my kids play out side as long as they are dressed appropriately. I also look in my community for different activities sponsored by the school district. I find mommy groups. At home paint, color, simple puzzles, play with them.
