You should go to the emergency room. If you are on anticoagulants (blood thinners) such as warfarin or coumadin, it could aggravate the condition causing further bruising. The other thing to be concerned with is the hot feeling that you describe. It could be the development of a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). You say that you don't have any pain, but I suggest you do a test on yourself elevate your injured leg like on a chair, stool or while at rest on a bed, while seated upright. With your leg stretched out in front of you, lift the front of your foot, at the toe, towards your body. Note if there is pain when you do this. If it hurts when you lift your toes toward your body, it is suggestive of DVT. Keep a mental note of the feeling this causes, as you will need to describe it to the hospital staff when you go to the E.R. They will do a doppler test to see if a clot has developed.

This could be any one of a million things. DVT and phlebitis are just two of them. If you are 300# and on blood thinners, give your doctor a call and give him the 411. See if he/she wants you to go in now or in the AM. That's why they earn the big bucks...

Since you are on blood thinners, I suggest you call a dr. asap. If that is not possible at the moment, try applying cold to the affected area.
