chew is worse than smoking because smokers usually don't continuously smoke the cigarette. they puff and let it burn a little while. Chew on the other hand sits in your mouth continuously and some makers of chew really do add a little fiberglass so as to cut the cheek and gums for faster absorbtion of the effects. Occasional use is not risk free. I have seen both male and female patients that had to have their lower jaw partionally or fully removed because of the high cancer risk related to chew. Sorry, no real nice way to put it.

If your referring to chewing tobacco, then it's not going to give gum disease or chewing gum. But tobacco in any form is not good for you and in the crewable form is even worst than smoking it.

No. You don't have to use it every day to be at risk. It is a gamble. Some people do it all their lives with little adverse affect. Others, develop mouth cancers at very young ages. True, just like smoking, the more you do the higher your chances. But there really is no "safe" amount.

I am a dental hygenist. you can get oral cancer from just living. Chew increases your changes 7 fold. don't risk it! use sugarless gum if you have to chew, or like current baseball players, salty sunflower seeds with the hull. you can still spit it out and be cool!
