"Mom, you're a big girl, you can take care of this problem yourself."
(Say this with hands on hip, eyes squinted, with that parent-to-kid look SHE has given you in the past.)

If this is your mom's sister, lying is not going to be easy...they grew up together remember and probably know each other inside and out. If your mom can't simply tell her the truth, then she can try telling your sister that the utility bill was higher than she expected and she just can't afford to visit this weekend. You could also tell your mom to say that she's not feeling up to it this weekend and maybe post-pone it for another time.
Whatever excuse your mother uses, remind her that it shouldn't be a lie that could snowball on her. Having to cover up a lie with another lie gets the ball in motion, so keeping it simple would be best.

Your mom is going to have to eventually deal with her sister. She either needs to cut it off and stop seeing her all together if it is all that bad (being that she can't be truthful with her.) Or she needs to confront her and sort out whatever problems they have. Maybe the sister is going through something that she needs help with and can't ask. Stringing someone along by telling lies is terrible. And as much as you guys think the sister is a negative person - the sister may be thinking that you guys do nothing be make up junk. Lay it all out on the table and clear the air. Everyone will feel better, whatever the outcome.

Why doesn't your mom call up and just tell her the truth? That she doesn't want to go. And if she's like my mom she doesn't want to hurt her sisters feelings lol so here we go. White lies...
How about she should stay home and clean the house, or she had promised you to a girls night out and forgot about it until you got upset when you told her.

Don't lie. She just needs to tell the truth, no matter what. The truth will eventually come to light and that one lie could haunt her later when she is really telling the truth and no one will believe her.

No lies are good lies, and for your mom to ask you to come up with one is just wrong. If she can't be honest with her sister, then avoid her. But do not lie to her. It will come back to bite her in the butttt at some point. It always does.

Tell her your mom has to stay home to make sure you don't go out because you got in trouble and your grounded.. Or just say she doesn't have any money and what little she does have she doesn't want to gamble it away... Or maybe aliens came and broke her ankles so she can't walk... Or the truth could work too, I dunno.. Good luck!

Why lie...just say "I don't feel very good, I'm going to stay home" and it's true cause every time your mom gets around her, she feels sick (and tired of her attitude)
