Hi, you can keep coloring your hair with permanent color, but try and keep the color on the roots and off the rest of your hair. The color keeps building up on the hair that doesn't need it. The results can be splitting ends, frizzies, and possible breakage.

Now, you said you want to get blonde highlights; well that will work but only if you use bleach and it's watched extremely carefully. I would suggest Chi by Farouk or lightening crystals by Redken. Look for a salon that sells Farouk or Redken hair products and don't be afraid to ask what they are going to highlight your hair with! I'm a cosmetologist for 12 years and would be glad to help you further. :o)

well repeated dying destroys the hair. it gets dry and brittle. Hair grows back but in the meantime if you damage the same hair over and over again before it has a chance to grow out you are going to leave yourself with poor quality hair.

Yeah you can ruin your existing hair! It'll dry it out, and maybe even damage it enough to make it break off!!
