I adopted her from the pound about 8 months ago when she was about 1 year old. She has been a pretty good cat, but about 5 weeks ago, she started not burying her stuff often. Now she hardly ever does at all. I did switch litter, but I went right back to the litter she was used to, and nothing has changed. It stinks, and she is in danger of losing her home. Any suggestions on what I can do to get her to bury her stuff again? And yes, I keep the box cleaned. Thanks.

You don't want her to bury it, when she does she will scatter the litter all over the floor around the box. If you keep the box clean it shouldn't stink. I would recommend a different litter. Tidy cat with odor absorbing crystals works good with my 3 cats, and I can go a day or two without cleaning it out.

Try covering the poop with litter a few times and see what happenes. If that does not work try empting the litter box of all litter and then taking it outside and taking the hose to it and give it a good cleaning. Or maybe try adding litter box deorderizer to the box or even litter pan liners.

You know, my late cat (a male) never buried his poop either. He was lazy. However, I loved him too much to give him away. My two boys now are both very good and I adopted them. I don't know why cats get lazy like this. I know it is frustrating.

The only thing I can suggest is to get what of those automatic litter boxes that cleans their poop up after they go. They're expensive but wonderful from what I hear.

Here's one I read about:

Go to a pet shop and ask for a toilet pan for trying cats to use the toilet. Eventually, it will learn to use the toilet and you won't have that problem (and you won't have to use a litter box, buy litter or clean the litter box...). I taught 3 cats on three different occasions. It works but you must be patient and very consistent. Cats can learn regardless of age or gender!

My poop, your poop, everyone's stinks. Cats don't have the option of flushing it away as we do.

Why would she have to lose her home for this? Cats only poop once a day and you can get it up fast and put it outside if it offends you so much.

Didn't you realise you were adopting an animal! They can't control the smell of their poop to please you. You are being very unfair to the cat.

Return her by all means, she may be able to find a home where she can be accepted for what she is.

You trouble-free it day by day? Do you apart from mght spray a disinfectant into the field and wipe it out? you may try doing that, too. I mushy my cats' (5 cats) containers another day. i make the main Odo-ban to wipe out the containers and that i exploit a deoderizer, like Tidy Cat or Baking Soda earlier pouring the clutter in. This cuts down on the smell immensely. the lavatory is an the two undesirable thought, because of the fact it gets moist and moist in there... Plus, what if Kitty has to hire the field, while somebody is having a tub? If the field is undemanding, there particularly is not any well-being purpose to maintain the sphere out of your room. My niece has a clutter field in her room for her little cat that loves easiest her. **EDIT** Having cats, suggestions-set stunning up with a undeniable volume of smell... you apart from mght might elect to maintain a window open... would desire to you employ clumping clutter, scoop, in simple terms approximately continuously, additionally to changing the field day by day. additionally, what styles of food are you feeding your cat? furnish her dry food strictly, and avert canned food, as canned food makes for smellier poo. additionally, dry food is fit for the long-term wellbeing of your cat's the teeth. the single approach the cat field would have urine ammonia build-up, is that in case you at the instant are not changing AND cleansing the litterbox day by day or in maximum circumstances. it is area of the duty of cat possession.

Has Your cat been sneezing lately? or does it have a runny or stuffy nose? Cats usually only bury their stuff if it smells, and if for some reason it can't smell it , that may be why it isn't covering.

If you like/love the cat what does it matter? Just clean the litter box everytime she poops. It won't kill you.
