I would have to say yes, because it is going in with a very negative attitude. Though, death is very possible during war time in the military; it is better to go in with an attitude like Rambo. I'm not saying it is like a movie, rather I'm saying a military person should go into battle knowing that anything can happen, but not dwell on it and be positive and go in ready to kick @$$. I think this is one of the problems that the USA's military faces today, not being pumped up before battle. That is why we as Americans should quit whining about the war and accept that we have to fight the evil terrorist and support our troops to the fullest. If you are entering the military; God Bless You, and I mean that in a positive way.

Yes it is. The U.S Armed Forces puts the preservation of their own lives above that of any mission. U.S troopers do not go on "suicide" missions, missions are planned with troop survivability in mind. Hoping to die does not just put you at risk, but also that of the troopers around you. You not doing your job because you foolishly got yourself killed could have repercussions you could not for see.

Cheers, Scott

You should only join the armed forces if you feel compelled to protect your country. But I don't think you are asking a serious question, if you "are" you are most certainly making a mockery of those who have lost their lives, this is not a joke.

To die defending ones country is the most noble act that could ever be committed. It is not wrong to want to die fighting. If the U.S. was on the brink of destruction and there was no hope, you can damn well bet I would want to die for my beliefs.

it is nice besides the fact that it is incorrect to signify (as in verse 5) that a soldier's efforts have been in ineffective. they are by no skill in ineffective and no militia individual might thank you in the event that they have been instructed that. the author assumes that the soldier is scuffling with a conflict to end all wars yet at coronary heart a soldier fights to stay alive and to maintain his comrades alive and for his/her united states of america. He/She is proud to be a piece of a gadget it is scuffling with to make issues better, or maybe a soldier's minor efforts are assisting to alter issues.
