Ok, I have a son, he will be two October 1, he has started potty training (he just started saying I pee, we bring him and he goes) Tonight, he has refused his diaper, (he is not ready to go without one yet) he SCREAMS "OUIE" when I put it on him, he holds his legs up in a fetal position when I try and litterally cries harder than I have ever seen. I don't know if he is just throwing a fit because he does not want his diaper on, or if he is really in pain. If I let him go without his diaper he seems fine, but when I lay him down this all starts. I don't know if he is in pain in a certain area, I am clueless. I called my mother in law, she came over and said he doesn't seem to need to go to the E.R. He has no fever or anything. What do you think? Temper tantrum? U.T.I? Or something else?

My daughter will be 2 in November and I have started to potty train her....she also fights with me not to wear a diaper...I think it's because I tell her what a big girl she is when she potties...so I started putting Pull-Ups on her and tell her that they are big girl pants....she walks around wearing them proudly....lol.....try putting Pull-Ups on your son......even if he has an accident overnight, he'll be alright...they are just like a diaper only shaped different.....hope this helps...

Hi :>)
Hang in there... You'll laugh later and have a story to tell !!! It's prob. not a UTI or he wouldn't be fine w/out the diaper. Kids love not to wear them because it feels so much better. They are so smart. I'm not saying this in a bad way, they will just manipulate us if they can. If he wants to be done with diapers, maybe you can do pull ups ? He can stand up and step into them, unlike a diaper, and you can tell him they are for big boys. Just a thought. You can also lay down the law and let him scream which is always SO enjoyable. Maybe he can wear underwear during the day and a diaper at night ? you could tell him something silly about not being wet at night because you'll have to buy him a new mattress and then you won't have any money for toys, you'll have to sell the TV, etc... or something to that effect. Anyway, GOOD LUCK. Hope this might be of some help :>)

First I'd take him to the Dr. just to be sure. Tell him when you say OUIE, and Mommy doesn't know what's wrong, then we need to have a Dr. see you to make sure your tummy is okay. Give him some pull-ups, (they're more like undies than diapers) Once you're sure there is no medical reason, then you need to nip this in the bud. I ran a childcare center, and saw children do the same thing, some time for no reason other than power struggle. If you really need to put on a diaper, then try hiding a small toy under one of your shirt sleeves (long sleeves) tell him you think one of his toys got out is and running up your arm. Would he help you and get it out. While he's distracted, with that, matter of factly put on the diaper. Distraction and Diversion are your best friends at this age. Making it fun, will make it easier on you.

Some children are ready to be diaper free before their 2nd birthday. If he doesn't seem to be in pain without the diaper or when he pees, then it may be that he's developed a sensitivity or allergy to the materials used in the diaper. How is he with underpants on? What about a pull-up? If he's decided it's time to do away with diapers then encourage him - he'll proabably do just fine.

Get some pull-ups and tell him they're "big boy underwear" and only put it on him when he sleeps, if he doesn't want to wear a diaper, don't force him, be happy, some kids don't want to give up the diaper. Call the doctor tomorrow and see what they say, try asking him if he hurts any where to really see if he is actually hurting or if he really doesn't want to wear a diaper.

Well my daughter is the same age and does the same thing. I put her in pull ups. But it does seem that the diapers do irritate her. So Look for redness or dots around the diaper line. Cuz she is always saying owie and rubbing her back and around the leg area of the diaper.

Ditch the diaper!! Buy some of the heavier training pants, the cloth ones and some rubber pants! Just make sure you put him on the pot before he goes to bed. Stop his drinking after a certain time in the evening, or limit him to how much he drinks!

I don't think he hurts he is just being difficult because you are doing something that he doesn't want. My suggestion would be to put him in a pull up. Still the absorbancy of a diaper but fits like big boys. I talked my little boy into them because of the super heros on them.

My daughter will be two on October 5th, and she's been doing that for longer than I can remember! No one could understand why her diapers were always on sideways--because she wouldn't sit still and she'd cry "owie, owie". Sound the same?
Maybe distract him with something or play a game with him while you're putting the diaper on.

Get pull ups and tell him they are big boy pants. Don't call them "Diapers". Sometimes it is just a struggle to get their diapers changed and you have to wrestle with them. I feel like I've had a complete workout by the time I've completed a diaper change.
