I grew up thinking I'd always be a dog lover. When I got married 15 years ago we got our first cat. I am a true cat person now. We are always leaving for the weekend and my cats are more than happy if we leave them a clean litter box and enough food and water for the weekend. Dogs require so much attention and you can not stay out all weekend or the majority of the night for that matter without having to come home and let them outside. Otherwise you will be coming home to a mess. So, I am a cat person through and through. No offense to dog lovers, I just have my preference.

I love them both for different reasons. I have had cats and dogs my whole life and could not live without them. Right now I have 2 cats and 4 dogs (2 pugs and 2 labs).

Either would make a wonderful companion. If you have a small place and no yard to run and play in for a dog then choose a cat.
If you choose a dog then they require more attention and hands on care if you want them to learn you must take time out everyday, several times a day to teach and interact and most of all be patient. They will love you back a thousands time over.

I like them both, but I'm mostly a cat person because of circumstances & where I live. Leases & such & working too much so I need a more independent animal. But if I lived a life-style with more time & in a different setting, I'd certainly have a dog or two, horses, cows, even.....chickens. I'd love to live on a farm.

I always thought I was a cat person, til I got my first dog, now I don't know how I ever lived without her. I have 2 dogs now, and they are wonderful.
