We don't work in the same department and I have to walk waaaay out of my way to say bye! It's not just some guy at the next desk. We don't work at desks or have intercoms to buzz people.

He definitely cares about you. If he didn't, why would your saying goodbye or not mean anything to him?

Nope. I don't think he has a crush. People just appreciate some personal kindness at work cause it usually doesn't exist.

go for it and ask him to do somehting casual, lunch or whatever you feel comfortable with. Once you break the ice-you open up the possibilities
