Angels a creatures of spirit that live in the same realm as God. They are extremely powerful, but thier power is tempered with their love of God.
They can and have materialized in human form on this planet before, there are numerous examples in the Bible of this. They do have counterparts, anti-angels if you wish, called Demons, who are 'fallen angels' who follow Satan the Devil in opposition to God's will. Apparently, Angels are invisible to us, but can be roaming around at will. There has not been one documented case of an Angel in human form since ancient days, the last exaple we have is the angel that visited John on the isle of Patmos, and gave him the "Revelation" which sounds a lot like a bad acid trip, but who am I to judge?

Both the Hebrew and Greek words translated"angel" signify 'a messenger' and are therefore used to denote whatever God employs to perform His purposes, or to manifest His presence or power. Understand, God's power was and is not always a pleasureable act. God is not fair but He is just. Angels have been used to do both good or terrible things. Some passages the term occurs in the sense of an ordinary messenger(Job 1:14, I Samuel 11:3,Luke 7:4;9:52)in others it applies to prophets-(Haggai 1:13,Malachi 3:1)to priests-(Ecclesiastes 5:5,Malachi 2:7)to ministers of the New Testament(Revelation 1:20). It is also applied to impersonal agents, such as the pillar of cloud(Exodus 14:19), the pestilence(II Samuel 24:16,17). The term more distinctly applies, however, to certain spiritual beings(Hebrews 1:14) employed by God as the ministers of His wil. They are God's incorporeal and invisible army of emissaries, ready to do His command(I Kings 22:19). They delight in praising the Name of the Lord continually(Psalms 103:21;148:1,2).They often represent God in making announcements of good news(Genesis 18:9,10;Luke 1:13,30;2:8-15). They may warn of coming dangers(Genesis 18:16-19;29; Matthew 2:13). In some cases they are God's agents in the destruction and judgement of evil(Genesis 19:13; II Samuel 24:16). The Bible records their visits to good men, but not ordinarily to ungodly men. they were charged with serving righteous men and providing for them in times of need(Psalms 91;11,12; Hebrews 1:14). They guide and instruct within certain parameters(Genesis 24;7,40; Exodus 14:19;), sometimes through dreams(Genesis 28:12; 31:11). Angels can protect the people of God(Exodus 14:19,20; Daniel 3:28; Matthew 26:53), overcome loneliness and dread(Luke 22:43), and deliver from danger(Acts 5:19;12:6-11). Since they are not "lost," they cannot be "saved," but are interested in man's salvation(Luke 15:10; I Corinthians 4:9). The angels in heaven do not marry(Mark 12:25). "Fallen angels" is a term used to denote those spirit beings who followed Satan in rebellion in heaven and were cast out, Satan being their lord or prince(Luke 10:18; Jude 6; Revelation 12:7-9). They continue to serve Satan, but their power is limited.Judgement awaits them(Matthew 25:41; Revelation 12:9) A more common term used to describe them is "demons". I hope this answers your question, because I know what they are. God Bless You.

Angels are translated or resurrected beings serving as messengers and servants to God. At one time, they lived on earth just as we are doing now. They are of human form in every conceived way, but are immortal.
