I hear that Air France is an excellent airline. Virgin flies from England and not from France.

Here is probably the best answer I can give you, as long as you understand that I fly so often on Air France that I sometimes am given the title "Mr. Air France" by some of the Air France employees.

If you want a wonderful flight, sit in one of these seats 15 A 14 B 16 C 17 B 22 D 23 A 27 B 28 B 29 C 29 D 33 A 11 A 12 B.

Now having said that, please beware of the underlying seating chart that truly invokes a horrible reaction to the average flyer in the time between takeoff and levelling out at certain flight altitutdes. If you know that your cruising altitude will be between 29,000 feet and 33,000 feet, try to get an odd numbered seat. If your altitude for the flight will be less than 29,000 feet, make sure, no matter what, you get an even numbered seat. This is specifically listed in many medical journals as a leading cause for more frequent and more chronic "jet lag". The restroom only seating is a good option, these two seats are located such that
the seats face directly into the restroom, so that when the door is opened, the smell can often be unbearable. However, the price for these seats are typically 50-60 percent less than normal. Look into this option, tell the booking agent you want a price for the "siege au toilettte". It is a little known option other than to seasoned Air France travellers.

In closing, Air France is what you make of it, in certain ways. The service is good, very French, they serve many French type foods. One fact that I still find bizarre, is that for their dinner service, their salads come with only French dressing. If you do not like French dressing , be sure to bring your own.

Should you require any type of special attention, for example, if you are on a high sodium diet, please call ahead.

I hope I have been helpful!

Please keep in mind that American & United were HIJACKED, that doesn't mean they're bad, it just means they were targeted. A LOT has changed since 9/11. That video of Air France is an empty plane flown by a computer. Air France did have a crash recently but accidents happen, and every airline out there has some accident in their history. Air France is just as good as anyone. If they were terrible and unsafe they would be grounded by the FAA or the NTSB.

Service : excellent
Food : very good
Seat : Comfortable
Safety : very good
Planes : Sure
And yes, it's comfortable for a long flight.

But to compare Virgin Airlines to Air France, it's to compare The Plaza Hotel with an Holiday inn

I've flown Air France quite a few times and have always had good experiences with them. The flight attendants were friendlier than most airlines, spoke excellent English and provided very good service. The flights I was on all had personal seat back in flight entertainment, not the best I've seen but more than adequate. The food was was okay too. I wouldn't hestitate to fly Air France again, my experiences with them are all positive. I think it's always good to fly the flagship carrier of the country you're going to when possible, it helps to acquaint you to the language and the people.

Air France is a pretty good airline I flew in August home from Paris to US but I went business class. I will say though stewardess/stewards were really helpful and courteous. The flight lasted 6 hours 49 min on the way over and 8 coming back. You catch the jet stream going over. I have never been on Virgin but my experience was good with AirFrance. The meals were actually pretty decent (if that matters), seats were comfortable and roomy as if well worn! LOL It was a little 'dated' compared to Delta which looked newer and a little more up to date...But it was overall good.
Great luck to you in choosing!
Good luck in whatever you choose

It's a good airline though services isn't what it used to be. But VIRGIN is better for service on board.

Regarding other answers about BA, British Airways has the world's luggage loss.

Have a good time in France :-)

Well to answer you more specificly:

Air France will get my rating of 5/10
First Class is good but then all First are
Business is average, There is much better around
Coach is average, better in and out of US than other countries, I dont think they have a premium coach like Virgin or BA
Food is really average
Wines are only french
Service- Depends Nothing to write home even on a good day

Personally i would fly on Virgin or BA to London and take a short stopover in London and take the train or a short flight to CDG, but with todays extra security its not worth it

Air France is the best French airline !

I took its planes to go to the USA this summer... almost perfect !

... but I know that sometimes in the USA you can have cheaper tickets to go to London... and then you can take a bus or a cab from Heathrow to London, and then the train to go to Paris... It may be worthy...
