I don't know about Minneapolis (hell, I can hardly spell it) but as a cop in a major metropolitan area it has been my experience that there are simply too many demands made on law enforcement to focus on one of the deadliest crimes in America: speeding. Most larger agencies will have traffic division who focus on catching speeders - as well as working the worst accidents which speeders cause.

Patrol officers don't always have radar in their vehicles and the meddling courts have stopped us from catching speeders through other, older methods such as pacing. I write a few traffic citations a day, but most of my eight hour shift is spent answering 911 calls: everything from rape, armed robberies, domestic violence to (mostly false) alarms at homes and businesses.

Most nights there is one of me to 10,000 of you. So if you are foolish, go on and speed and try to straighten out those curves, I might not catch you, but sooner or later, a pine tree will be your last stop.

In alot of big cities, if there is alot of crime, cops can't be bothered with it. I have a friend who is a cop in New Orleans. They have bigger things to worry about.
