Well, here's the thing... my boyfriend just bought a dog for his little brother. It's still a puppy, probably a few months old... It's a shih tzu. And well... they've had him probably for a week now. But is it ok to take him away from him new environment so soon? He's not even completely used to it yet. Should I wait until it's familiarized itself with their house a bit more? How long should I wait? I really love that puppy and I want him to spend a day at my house... help...

Wait until he is a little older and more used to being in his new home, and when he does come for a visit, have your botfriend bring him and stay with him while he is there.

I think it would be just fine for the puppy to come visit you. Dogs need to experience new environments and people all the time. It's probably not a good idea for him to spend a whole day at your house the first time around, make the first visit shorter and have your boyfriend stay so the puppy has someone he knows with him.

Young puppies still need a lot of sleep anyway, so keep it short for now and he'll know you quick enough and can come spend the day and feel happy doing it.

Bring him on over, it'll be good for him to see new places... unless he's skittish in the first place, then maybe you should leave him for a little while. Just keep in mind that since he's so young he's probably gonna pee in your house cuz he'll be so excited.

Wait about 3 years, its 21 in dog years. Then he will be legal and you can take him to clubs and bars. Then I guarantee he wont want to return to your BF's house anymore.

My vet told me that dogs need to socialize from early one so they will not be fearful around strangers. He said that a fearful dog would be a biter.

I don't think that is a problem. It is good for him to learn to deal with other people and a new place when he is little.
