Granted I'm still in High-School, but it seems most high school students think there's only the Army. No Air Force or Navy, Marine Corps, etc. Also, why do they act like asses around recruiters?

Ok, high school kids don't know crap because they are not tought crap and to boot their fathers are probably not millitary. You can tell what kids grow up with millitary fatheers or mothers for that matter. The millitary brats as they are called are more inclined to stray from millitary life and the one's that don't know are more inclined to think military life is simple and all they have to do is dodge bullets and shoot guns.... That is not what millitary life is about.... It is about helping others but also hard work and determination and also about loving what you are working so hard to defend. Millitary men and women work in all areas including food and clothing. Noone sticks to just one job in the military. My boyfriend is in the US Navy and he works with bombs and aircraft. He knows the sizes and the abilities of all the US ships and the aircraft. Training is good but it's learning the disapline of it all that sux.

Because high-schoolers dont car about the army, military and what have you. The common good of people want peace, that is understood. No one wants to go fight in a war when the onlly good he can get out of it is to come to his family in one peice. The only people who believe in " fighting for peace" in wars are brainwashed cogs who think they are being patriots and people who couldnt think of another way to make money. One great man once said that the pionerrs of a warless centry are those who refuse military service. You dont fight for peace, you peace for peace.

It isn't politically correct to know about the military. Make sure you chose an MOS that has a job that has a similar one in the civilian community. OJT time always is useful!

It takes a solidly maintained tradition to teach your children to join an organization that increases their personal probability to be killed.

It takes an even stronger tradition to convince parents to support that education.
