Well, if your hair grows between 1/2-1 inch per month.
And my hair grows between 1/2-1 inch per month.
Than OUR hair grows between 12-24 inches per year.

It can grow from anywhere from 1 to 3 inches a month....so a foot a year is possible.

I have heard the average is half an inch per month. So a max of six inches I guess.

1/2 in. per month

12 x 1/2 = 6 "

so 6 " a year
