One of my sweet little kittens was injured 6 days ago and is still recovering(escaped from his pen and was accidentally almost crushed in the frigde door). He's doing better but now when I go to wipe his feet or pick him up to clean up the area he growls and hisses at me. I'm very gentle and doat on the little guy. Is this normal? He's got a follow up appt. Thursday at the Vets office.

Thank you all for such encouraging answers. I'm so heartbroken. He was always the mischievious one & could meow the loudest to come out of his pen to run around. Now he just lays there. I know it was accidental but I'm still ragging on my husband for not watching his every move when the kittens are out. I will for certain give the Vet a call tomorrow.

I just returned from the Vets office & my sweet little kitty has a brain injury & has gone blind. I want to have a few more days with him until I have him put down. I've decided that's what's best for him. I'm crushed. Thanks again all!

I agree with everyone else. He is probably in pain, his "attitude" is his way of telling you OUCH!!

Give your Vet a ring and see if you can bring him in earlier if you feel that he should have medical attention sooner.

Lots of love, care and warmth and he'll be good as new soon!

Thank you for taking care of yor kittens and being such a good 2nd mom to them. Not enough people really love the animals the way they were meant to be!

The little tyke has had a terrible experience and is still suffering emotionally, maybe physically, from his trauma.

You can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy at a health foods store. It's about $20. You shake the bottle well and put three to four drops on the fur between his ears. This will definitely help him relax and free his energy to put into his healing.

The RR covers, pain, shock, trama. It can be miraculous in its effects and I strongly urge you to use it. It will not interfere with any medication you are using from the vet and can absolutely do no harm.

The only thing I can think of is see if you can move the appointment to a sooner time in case theres something going on more serious then what appears..

I say the poor little guy is just in some pain. He'll get better and will be back to his old self soon enough.

That is completely normal after an injury.

However do not let your emotions prevent you from giving it the care it needs.

Sounds like when you are picking him up it hurts. Tell the vet so they can check.

Otherwise he should not be so nasty.

He is probably in pain and when you pick him up, you are unintentionally hurting him or he is afraid that you will. He just wants to be left alone.
