I am on Effexor once a day 150mg. Seems lately everyone has been on my case about my mental health even gotten to the point of threatening me to get a psyhic evaluation or be forced into the hospital for one. I am working with a nurse who comes to my home once a week and have arranged to get help thru the Canadian Mental and Addication Insuite here in Toronto. Seems that isnt good enough. I am right now so down and out all I want is to sleep and sleep more. Nothing I am doing is good. Heck I got a new boyfriend about a month ago., they dont believe me he is my bf., I am always taking my meds but they still count them to see that I am., always told I am not a good enough mom to my girls., and lots more. My bf seems to be the most supportive of me right now and believes me.

The Effexor caused me to be mean. It may not be the correct drug for you. You may need something different. I would get the psych eval. It wouldnt hurt. I would also see about some councling. You may be suffering from a deeper depression or some buried issues you dont even realize. I wish you all the best. I have been in your shoes and they suck, they dont fit right and they feel horrible.... Talk to your doc about trying something different....

I'm taking the same dosage of Effexor a day. I know for sure that it has helped with my depression and completely eliminated my anxiety. Not all medications work for everyone but I think that Effexor is still one of the best out there today.

However, it does make me very sleepy and tired for most of the day and I don't want to do much of anything. I just don't have the energy or motivation to do much work like chores and laundry. However, depending on your circumstances, it might not be the right drug for you. If you are low on energy and motivation and have a lack of interest in doing things then you might want to try Wellbutrin. It works on two neurotransmitters like Effexor.

You and your family need to educate yourselves on mental illness. It is totally normal that you have no energy because you are depressed. They seem to be expecting too much from you and riduculing you too much. I'm going to assume you have a former addiction problem. You really need to see a psychaitrist, and getting the aid and help from whoever will give it is good. Your brain must recover from the drugs you took and it will take time. Also, your family will need more time in order to trust you again, just be compassionate towards them and understand where they are coming from. A stay at the mental hospital might not be to bad of an idea if you are feeling suicidal.

Addiction is not something that you chose to do because you are selfish. Addiction is greatly misunderstood in our world. It is a mental condition just like any other, and like mental conditions it is just a physical as any physical disease. There is an imbalance of the chemicals in your brain and they need to be balanced. Medication can do this for you. Hang in there and educate yourself about mental illness. You could be bipolar, so look that up too. Don't worry things will get better.

Effexor maybe isn't the right type of anti-depressant. Try something like Zoloft. Effexor is actually more of a placebo than anything else.

If the Effexor is not doing it for you, then be assertive with your health care professional and tell him/her you want to try another medication, this one isn't for you. Be insistent. If the health-care professional, does not help you, ask for or find another one who will. I went though 5 years of bad doctors and medications to finally get it right. Be assertive and don't give up!

Well, 150 mg might not be the right amount. Go back to the MD and tell him/her your concerns. Much of emotional health is a subjective thing. Testing is good and all, but a test can't really tell you a person feels.

Hey, so am I and I'm on Effexor. I used to be on Zoloft, then they switched me. I think maybe it's time for another change. I'm crying all the time again.
