I am getting married this October, and we are just having the ceremony at a friend's house with only about six or seven people there. I wasn't planning to get a bridal gown, but is it ok to wear a chocolate brown dress with a colorful print?
The dress looks awesome on me, but I am not sure If maybe I should try a little harder to find something in lighter colors.
The internet is worthless for me, because my body shape is different than the average person.

Go with what you like the best.......Remember the wedding day is only one day....your MARRIAGE is the best part of having a wedding in the first place, and it is only 1 day in your life....so seriously whether it be a few people and the dress you like, then why spend money on another one......Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

Since it's your special day hon..I would splash out on a new dress your man hasn't seen you in (so you can totally blow him away) and something that will make your feel excited about your special day.

Even though you should wear a colour that suits you, I think brown with a colourful print is a bit too much. Why not think of some other colours that also flatter you and find a nice casual dress in a solid colour (you don't want to risk your pics out dating fast by a print or pattern) along the lines of simple and elegant.

Even though your man proberly knows you are wearing a informal dress instead of that full on bride-y look..it's better to be safe and suss out how he feels about you wearing a colour dress as he might still be expecting you to wear white or ivory. I like colour dresses as well but even though my bf is open to it, I think he still would prefer a white dress.

But anyway it's your day and the good thing about going casual is that you have more creative license to wear what you want and have your day how ever you want it! Congrats! :)

Casual is fine. Brown is a bit over the top.

Go to several bridal shops and see who would be willing to help you find a dress that is more cheerful and fits you. Perhaps find someone who can do a color pallette for you to find your most becoming colors and find a lively one that best suits you. If bridal shops are too "fancy", try a smaller dress shop that may be willing to "fit" you.

Remember to tell your guests the "theme" of your celebration, so no one comes over dressed. Theme, meaning luau, carribbean, mardi gra, or some casual affair.

It is YOUR wedding and you can get married in anything you darn well please.

Don't buy into that have to have the white dress, the bouquet, etc, ad nauseum, if that is not what you want.

I've seen beautiful, meaningful weddings where the bride and groom wore blue jeans and were barefoot. I have seen weddings that were absolutely tasteless with the bride wearing a $1,000+ white strapless gown that allowed her parrot tatoo (the size of my hand) on her shoulder to be shared by all spectators behind her.

if you're happy with the dress and it looks great on you wear it you're the bride and maybe you can get some nice colorful flowers for your bouqet that will go with the dress I would go for flowers that would match the colorful print....Good Luck
Have a very Happy wedding day and an even more awesome wedding night

No, because when you look at your wedding pictures 10 or 15 years from now with your children, they'll be like, "What the hell??" Dress up, get your hair done, look hot, it'll haunt you down the road if you don't!

And invite twice as many people, it'll give them someone to talk to besides you guys! You can fit 20 people into anybody's house.

Never mind the size of the wedding, the formality of the wedding is what determines what you wear.

You can wear any color you desire, though I would steer clear of black or red for reasons of tradition. Also, brown may or may not photograph well. You might want to experiment with that first.

Hunny it is your wedding and your day you can wear what you wish. I wore a wedding gown but hated my wedding cause i had nothing to do with the planning. My sister wore a red dress and was 9 months pregnant but planned her wedding a small but beautiful park wedding. It is your day so do it your way and cherish it ....

If you are happy with it why not.
Remember it's your wedding not your family and friends. I got married in jeans and a T-Shirt. I did get married in a church just to make my mom happy. It was a very small wedding. No bridesmaids or anything. Just my parents and sister and his parents and niece.
Saved us tons of money too!

Its your wedding. Just make sure you are comfortable with the decision to wear a dark dress.
