I think the best way to get her to listen to you is for you to listen to her too. Try to make it a two way conversation. The best tool in conversation is listening.

That's a common problem, but it's also a frustrating problem. She's probably tied up in her own small world, no offesnse. Just get up early when she's about half awake and try to talk to her. Then, when she gets awake, you'll most likely have her full attention. Another idea would be sending her e-mail. I know, weird idea within families, but it works. You could also help her with her fave. hobbie. If it's gardening, you could spark up a convo. with your views there. You could try anyone of these. Maye she thinks her life is too stressed out for some reason. Do something extra special for her where she won't have to lift a finger. Maybe install a water purification system? Just an idea...

You need to communicate in a way she'll understand. If you are going to her with silly nonsense of course she doesn't want to listen. Go to her and tell her that you need to talk. If you need her for a serious talk, I'm sure she'll listen. Tell her that you feel like she doesn't listen to you, maybe she doesn't even realize it.

Perhaps you don't approach her in a civil way. Just say, "mom, I need to talk to someone and I hope you will listen." If she will not set aside time to listen, before speaking, tell her you will talk to someone elses mom or adult friend if she will not be there for you when you need advice, direction, someone who cares about your mental well-being.

That's too bad. It's very difficult whe parents don't honor their children by listening. Who in your life do you trust with whom you can talk? Do you have specific things to discuss? How does she respond when you try to have a talk?

maybe the things that you're trying to tell her is not worth listening to. sorry i don't want to sound mean or anything but that may be the problem: telling her stuff that's either inappropriate, boring or not worth caring for.

get her attention the best way to do it is get a diary and say to her "on this day at this time can i make an appointment to talk to u about something thats important to me?"
she will realize pretty fast that u need to talk.

Write your feelings about her in a journal and leave it open in a place you know she'll find it. She'll realize what's going on. Then be sure to do it before you leave someplace - she'll be so worried.
