That's a tough question, and you have a good point on saying it won't matter when they are older. But for now, it is pretty early for the two of them to date. The maturity levels are quite different, as she is around 14/15 and he is around 19. I would tell your niece to wait a few years--enjoy life while she is still young and single! Since she is your niece, I am sure she will listen to you more than she would with her parents. Hope this helps :)

If you are really close to her, then you can ask her if she wants your opinion. If she doesn't, then don't give it to her. If she is curious, then let her know just what you said in your question.

Later it won't make any difference. Right now the maturity levels between a freshman in high school and a freshman in college are just too great - you don't have to use the term "maturity levels", that makes it sound like she is a little kid and she will tune you out quicker than quick.

Right now the law looks at her as "jail bait" and him as a pedophile, of a sort.

Boys that are 18 or 19 and girls that are 14 or 15 are just not a good idea - although you probably couldn't have convinced me when I was 14 or 15.

He's too old! They are at different stages in their life and a college freshman would expect more from a relationship than a high school freshman could or should handle

I think so. Even though the age difference is small, right now, there is a big difference in maturity. It'll take it's own course I bet, though.

Huge maturity gap. College isn't good to high school girlfriends.

Gently nudge her away from this relationship.

Yes, he's too old. Freshman aren't ready for college kids. She should wait awhile and so should he.

a little to old, but different schools should cause a loss of interest for both.

Just tell her to be careful. Let her know that you care for her no matter what decision she makes.
