clean it well with mild soap (dove or ivory) and warm water...using soaps with dyes or perfumes in it can irritate the bite...
use benadryl or hydrocortisone cream on the bite itself to help with swelling and itching...
if it's hurting constantly you can use ibuprofen for the pain and swelling. take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours
things to look for that would require medical attention are:
-increased swelling to bite location
-the itching becomes more severe
-you begin to run a fever of 101.5 or higher
-there are red lines extending from the bite towards the rest of your body (this indicated infection in the bloodstream and will need antibiotics asap)
these are all signs of infection or allergic reaction to the bite and you'll need antibiotics to treat it.

It all depend on what kind of spider bite you..if it is a brown recluse spider you will need medications from a Dr. Watch it closely if it starts to peel the skin or get red and a line runs down or up..go to the Dr ASAP.
