Simplecef is an antibiotic that we commonly use in our hospital. It is good for skin infections. It should not cause sleepiness. Most commonly maybe a stomach ache. Give it with food. Maybe your dog is sick from something which is why he is sleeping more and why the vet put him on the antibiotic?

We have just had a rep from that company come 2 my job and offer Simplicef in place of Cephalexin. Just alittle background info these meds r commonly used for skin infections and is used as an antibiotic. The best part about this new drug is that u only need 2 use it once a day as opposed 2 cephalexin that requires 3 times a day dosage---which personally is a pain in the butt! One of my dogs has very sensitive skin and if I don't wash her immediately after she goes swimming in the pool or lake her under belly will "break-out" with red bumps. I have used cephalexin for this in the past and I have a hard time giving it 3 times a day due 2 my school and work schedule so I was soooooo happy when Simplicef came out! She has been on the meds for about 4 days now and she has improved dramatically! I love it! It is alittle strange that ur puppy seems 2 be sleepy on it but just 2 be safe take him to the vet 2morrow and have them exam him and take his temp maybe he is having a small bad reaction 2 the meds. I wouldn't worry about it but if he is not eating and not himself just take him back 2 the vet just 2 be on the safe side. Good Luck and I hope she feels better! :)

Depending on what your pet is using Simplicef for it can be very effective. As with any medication there can be side effects, such as vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. It may take your pet some time to get adjusted to the medication. However, because there are so many different antibiotics on the market, if you do not feel that this product is working for you be sure to call your vets office, they should be able to easily switch it. More than likely your vets office chose this medication for you because you pet has to take a smaller dosage than something like cephalexin which sometimes needs to be administered 3 times a day. Simplicef can be a lot more convenient, but convenience does not always mean it is better for your pet. If his/her attitude does not return to normal in the next 48-72 hours I would contact your vets office.

I have a 5 year old Shih Tzu with an eye infection. I took my dog to the vet and was given Simplicef. The side effects were immediate. He was extremely lethargic, would barely even drink water and began panting very fast and hard. My dog has been pretty healthy so far and been prescribed very little medicine so I know for a fact it was the Simplicef that caused the reaction. I stopped the dosage and within a day he was back to his old self again. Hope this info helps!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7GA
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
