ok, i am considering joining a dance team. it costs my mom and dad $270 per month to do this. there are 3 requirements to join:
1. you must be skinny and have abs.
2. you must have 2 belly button piercings
3. you must attend 5 one-hour abdominal classes each week and the 3 hour team practices 7 times per week. if you miss more than one practice per month, you're off the team.
should i join?
i am a girl, and i have a flat tummy, but i gotta get my belly pierced 2 times :/

Ok, assuming that you are prepared to handle the training schedule, and that you are otherwise responsible, punctual and very passionate about dancing and assuming the dance team has a good director and that you will be learning good dance technique, I say it's a great deal.
$270 may seem like a lot of money, but consider the number of hours that you will be training in a month, 84!!! You end up paying a little over $3 per hour of dance training. Anyone who's ever taken a dance class will tell you that you are getting a bargain.
In my opinion, piercing your belly button is nothing out of this world. I'll concede that it's odd for this to be a requirement, but this shouldn't be a huge moral dilema.
It all comes down to you (and your parents) and whether or not you are prepared for what sounds like a challenge. Can you handle it? If the answer is 'yes', then do it.

A few questions for you. First off, is there a specific reason for joining this dance team(friends, peer pressure, popularity contest)? If not: Why waste the money, when you can dance wherever you want to just for fun? Why join a group where you HAVE to be skinny and have abs? Do you WANT to get your belly button pierced? Twice? And do you really want to take that much time (5 hours a week for abs alone, 3*7=21 hours for practice...26 hours a week?!) away from your friends and family? That's a lot of time! You can MAKE $270 a week at a part time job for that kind of time, and with less stress. Oh, yeah, with this team, how many contests will you be in, events will you have to go to in addition to the practice time, and is there any monetary compensation if your team wins? How much are costumes, does the team provide them or do you have to get/make them? Fuel to get back and forth? Granted, you'll be in great shape if you do join. But I see no reason you HAVE to get your belly button pierced when there are so many other ways to decorate your navel. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way shape or form against piercings. I have my tongue pierced, BUT that's because I thought it would be fun(and after the first week it was), and I did it for myself. Consider these questions, answer them to YOUR satisfaction and make your decision then :)

Ask your parents what they think. To me, it does not sound right.
You should not have to alter your body (ie. piercings) to join the team, as it has nothing to do with the dancing itself.
Also, the time committment is incredible. 7 times per week is everyday, and 3 hours each. You cannot possibly do this without affecting other important things you need to be doing.
Ask your folks and follow their lead....

Sounds crazy to me. There is no way that you should be spending that much time (and money) on one thing. There are many things to enjoy in life instead of becoming focussed on just this one weird one.
