Obviously, you have chosen your religion for a reason (if you have one).

Is it simply because you were raised on your religion, and are afraid to leave it?
Or does your religion offer some practical usage in your life?
Did you compare your religion to the many others and determine it to be the best?
If so, using what criterea?

Do you TRULY have faith in your religion, or do you simply accept it's role in society and use it to "fit in" or something similar?
If you do truly believe, WHY?
What source have you recieved your religious information from? A holy book? A Holy man? Personal Experience?
How do you know you can trust that source?

Almost all of these answers responded to the question in some fashion, and a majority were excellent answers. Some offered excellent analysis of the theory of religion, while some provided personal confirmations.

To anyone who may have been curious, I have nothing against organized religion, although I do not follow it.

In fact, the only answers which did not satisfactorialy answer the question were those which attributed thier belief in their particular religion based on the teachings of that religion ("I follow christ because he saved me...", "I am a Muslim because Allah is the supreme being"").

I don't follow a faith as such but I think everyone has a prevailing philosophy about how and why the world is. Anthropologically religion is a mechanism for explaining the world around us and for ensureing social order through morality. Even without a religion I think all people achieve these things in their own way - either through science and reason or through their own religious beliefs.
I don not have a faith as being raised an Anglican, I found difficulty with the literal intepretations of the bible. But the most valuable thing I was ever taught by a priest was that it didn't matter what I believed actually happened in the bible, as long as I get the message. I did.

I am a Christian. God is my Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is my Savior.

How do I know? It's in my heart and I feel and see God's works everywhere I look. In my darkest hours, God has never failed me, nor will he. The answers may not always be yes, but God knows what's best for me.

Yes, I TRULY have faith and no matter what happens in this short time on earth, I know my Soul is protected by God.
All things work together for the good for those who love the Lord.

I don't believe in judging others. The Bible says "Judge not, least ye be judged."
I just try to treat others as I would like to be treated, although I don't always DO that.. I TRY.

Hello,
There are tons of religions all over the world. If one and only one was the right one ...that leaves a whole lot of people are A. Lying or B. Mistaken.
I feel it is not important which religion you believe in...{personaly I feel religion has done far more harm than good since time began} I do however feel it is important to try to be spiritual.
I believe the force, power however you like to say it.... we call God is the spark of life that is in every living human, a blade of grass and all things in between that are alive.
I feel it is important to , Be a good human, help other humans when you are able...be kind to all humans, strive to be the best you can be...remember your not the only person who can feel happyness or pain. think good thoughts, we are MAGNETS....we attract whatever we put into the universe...be wise ...put out only good. Always look for good , because we always ...always find what we are looking for ....even if it is NOT there.
and I heard someone once say "Religious People Are Religious for Fear of going to Hell"

But "Spiritual people are spritual because they have already been there"
Religion is not for me....and I am the only one I can speak for.
Thank You for that question, I needed a boost :)

In fact when I hear anyone say ...my way is the only way ...or I am the only one to trust..etc. I stay away from them...Every human is different ....and my relationship with the power of life that we call God {among other names} is a very personal thing, I could never tell another to do it my way....It may not be for him/her at all. I am not a sheep....nor a leader....

PEACE

I chose Christianity that Jesus taught us when He was here on earth. I have researched many different religions, and use to belong to a Southern Baptist church, but found that they didn't go strictly by the Bible. I believe that Jesus taught us what He wanted us to know, and He is the Master. I prefer Jesus's way, His way is the best, He never put down a sinner, but always tried to help them, He taught us to be patient, loving, and kind. I trust the source because the books of the Bible were well preserved until they where translated by the Jews.
I also feel in my heart that it is absolutely the right way.

Why? Not JUST because I was raised in Lutheranism, I love to hear the word of God (sermon) in the house of the Lord with other like minded folk. I love my religion. God had healed me, answered my prayers, and he has been there for me.

What kind of question is that anyways? Do YOU have something against organized religion?

There is physical evidence on the earth still left from the things that were written from happening. I wasn't really raised any religion but after research I choose this one.

First off, too many questions!! I am methodist, was raised in the religion. I really like my religion, no crazy rules like no dancing, no makeup, kissing the priests feet, confession. But everyone person has their own beliefs and don't really care what religion they care, as long as we believe in God and accept him as our Lord and Savior.

I don't believe in religion...I believe in God.I don't believe in God because of the way I was raised, but because of the way he has touched my life.I cannot compare what God has done in my life with other people's,but I can attest to the fact that I would not be where I am today without Him.

I do not believe in religion, only Christ. He is the risen Messiah for all who will believe on Him. I don't follow the ways of organized religion, only Christ.

Well because of the evidence that I have in my life proves to me that God exists, so there jus has to be a God, so if theres a God i listen to Him by reading His word, His word tells me what I should do, soo I found a religion that follows His word completely and is telling them what they should do too.
