First of all, my use for this camera would everyday and the largest print size I would ever print would be 8 x 10.

around $150 dollars

3x optical zoon

at least 4 mega pixels

tell me what you have if you have a similar camera and tell me how you like your particular brand. I have seen alot of really cool off brand or odd brand cameras on ebay and wondered if i should stay away from these or what are your thoughts. thanks for any answers.

I agree with the other answers here that you should go with Canon. My recommendation would be anything in the "A" series - A530, A630, etc. whichever one fits in your budget better (the difference in models usually correspond with more megapixels and larger LCDs). You'll most probably get the best all around camera for the money. These cameras have great pic quality and usually offer at least some manual controls (in addition to the automatic stuff) to give you more flexibilty as you get more advanced.

And yes, stay away from the super cheap stuff. Stick with Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus... in no particular order. They are probably the best digicam makers right now
