If you work hard enough, you can overcome anything. Your doctor's a jerk.

No one is "bound" to self destruct. But having borderline personality disorder makes it very hard for people to focus on the needs and feelings of others. You may have to try harder and learn how to have empathy if it does not come naturally. The good news is that if you are able to learn and practice good relationship skills that you will get the attention you need in a positive way. Focus on the consequences of your behavior before you act. Ask others for input if you can't trust your judgement and then take their advice. Remember relationships are a give and take thing. You can't always be the center of the relationship. Constantly ask yourself what your partner needs and try to be there for him even when it is tough. Try not to be manipulative to get what you want as it is exhausting for your partner and may drive him away. Try to find a therapist who specializes in working with the disorder and has some positive advice. Good luck.

Being that your diagnosis is correct, which it might not be, it is one of the most untreatable disorder of the many mental disorders in the DMS-V. However, there is no absolute to anything, and you can take control of yourself so that things improve.
Don’t worry about boyfriends for the time being. You must regulate yourself and your mind before you will be ready to start a healthy relationship. You can have a relationship, it may be a very difficult one, but you will have to learn that certain types of people will be a better choice for you than others. For instance, an understanding compassionate giving person would be a must. Don’t worry about looks money or all that other stuff, make sure they are educated enough to get you and not judge you.
Medication could be of help to you. I don't understand how your doctor could be so cruel. First and foremost dump him and get another you trust. However, people with your condition tend to think in black or white terms. Remind yourself that nothing in our world is in black in white including you and your personality. You will have to heal yourself through self-knowledge, emotion regulation, and cognitive restructuring.
It will be hard, but life can get better. Learn to apply logic to most situations instead of using your gut or emotions because they may be distorted to reality. I’m sorry for the pain you might be going through, I have bipolar disorder which sucks but it is treatable with medication more easily than yours. You will have to go through all of the therapy session if you really want to heal.

I know how you feel because I also have Borderline Personality Disorder and I am bound to self distruct if I don't stay on my medication. It makes other people crazy but you can't help it. Just try to learn how to deal with it and ask the doctor about medication if you aren't already on it.

That's not a cool doctor. But I"ll be honest, Borderline's no joke. But yeah that's the run down on borderline; controlling, manipulative, emotional, sometimes self injurious and attention seeking. Those are some traits but you dnt have to be ALL of them.
You should really seek out a different doc or tell him you didnt appreciate what he said to you.
good luck

Wow...that almost identifies me to a T. Although I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar..otherwise known as manic-depressive. I am not sure if it's a must have situation, or something we honestly can not deciefer in our heads. Get a second doctors opinion...really have them check for sure. You can't change who you are ...at least not alone. You need help all around you. Good Luck...from someone who knows.

wow that doctor should lose his/her lisence. there is a wonderful therapy out there called DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) it may sound kinda dumb when you first start it but if you actually comiitt yourself and you go thru a good program you can actually learn to relearn the way you think, act, and react in life. good luck to you.
