If that picture is you in your avatar, I would say yes. Update your looks.
But, more importantly, and please take this as a sound piece of advice, you should lose some of that weight, you would be surprised how much better you will look and feel with a healthy diet and not so much fat to lug around.
Plus a head of hair sits better on you that way!

Why the heck not? It's just hair. If you are displeased with the shortened length, it will grow back soon enough. It's always fun to experiment with hair length... besides, you might actually like the new cut more than the usual style. Good luck.
