They aren't "friends." Satan is a created being, he rebelled against God and God threw him out of the heavens, along with all of his followers. Satan wanted to be like God and all that He is.
God knows Satan because they have a long history together, Satan wanted to show God that he could turn someone against Him, and this was the conversation. They are very much enemies, as you can see by reading the story, Satan wants to afflict always, and God doesn't.

Didn't talk like they were friends at all to me. Talked more like an enemy coming up in a crowd where all the attention was centered on God where it was supposed to be, and satan the enemy was looking to turn someone against him. The only people satan can turn against God are those that belong to God, those that are on his (satan) side he don't worry about them he has them already. And the only way he can touch any of the people that belong to God he has to get permission. God knew what satan wanted the minute he came up and started talking. Just like God knows all His enemies and what their intentions are.

Because although Satan was cast out, he still has access to the throne. He walks among us and stands before God accusing us. However, at the final judgement he will be judged as well and that is when he will be cast into the pit. Ironically he will also proclaim the truth , that Jesus is indeed the son of GOD.

At the time that Job was written the authors and later the editors were influenced by the idea that God and Satan are the balance of negativity and positivity. In fact in Zoroastrianism one does not exist without the other and neither has a qualification of good or bad. Judaism was influenced by Zoroastrianism while the Jews were part of the Persian Empire.

Yes. In the old testiment Lucifer/Satan and god worked together. Lucifer is an angel who works to weed out the unfaithful. This is in contrast to the new testiment Lucifer/Satan who is a rebel and leader of demons against god. That is why the bible is about 2 different gods. The god of christians who "loves all" but will watch those who don't listen burn for eternity and the war god of the jews.

God CREATED Satan.

God is COMPLETELY omnipotent. Satan is simply one of God's servants.

Of course, I can't imagine God would actually have to talk to Satan (or anyone) through human language, but hey... the bible was written back before people thought about things like that.

Although Satan is the Archnemesis of God, because of his rebellion against God, he still cannot do anything against humanity without God's Knowing.

So when he thought he could induce Job into cursing the Almighty, & blaspheme against Him, he could not go ahead with his plan without telling God first.

Because the Hebrews didn't think of Satan as a bad guy, just as a guy who filled a role and balanced the universe.

God created Satan, but when God created him,he was known as (Lucifer) the angel named for (bearer of light): When Lucifer thought he was as great as God,he was cast out of Heaven, into a place prepared for him called Hell: Many other angels followed Lucifer, and were cast out,and are now known as Satan, and his demons.
