Yes. Your immune system can become accustomed to the allergen.
The reverse can also occur. What you've always been OK with, you can create an allergic reaction. (This happened to me. I could deal with poison ivy as a kid with no reaction, but now, I'll break out as an adult.)

It is not a dumb question. Allergies are complex things and some people do indeed develop a tolerance to the things they were once allergic too. Some people find they can tolerate allergens when they take 3-4 grams of vitamin C a day (Let's Get Well - Adelle Davis). Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine has a very good discussion of allergies, especially food allergies, with lots of advice that may be helpful in dealing with them. If you or a loved one have allergies you would do well to study those chapters.
Good luck and God bless.
Monavie juice sometimes helps give significant allergy relief.

Not a dumb question at all...first off immunotherapy desensitizes you to whatever you are allergic to. And yes you can become immune to something you were once allergic to, but then develop a whole new set of allergies, so I caution you to be careful.

Yes. One type of therapy for allergies is called immunotherapy. You get shots of the material you are allergic to, starting at a real tiny dose and increasing the dose gradually, so that you become immune to what you are allergic to.
It's called "allergy shots".

Sometimes. In fact that's how they treat some allergies, by exposing you to small amounts of the allergen so your body can build up an immunity. This works for many things including poisons - but don't try it.

I would think so, but if the allergy is to something like peanuts, stay away from them! People are "allergic" to snake venom, but can become resistant to it if bit multiple times. But that is not the same as a food allergy.

Yes this is possible. Being exposed to something continuously can cause you to become immune. Example would be allergy shots.

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes allergies to go away. I have a friend who for a long time couldn't eat chocolate. She was a very happy camper when she found she could again.
