Because it creates problems. Most people would say! or My parents went to this church,I love the band, they have a lovely daycare etc. But the bottom line is are they preaching and teaching the TRUTH ! To the Law and the Testimony if they not speak according to this WORD than you know the rest! But me personally I do not have a problem telling people what THUS THE LORD SAY! Just plain and simple. We can't be popular and prophetic at the same time. It may not be popular (What the Bible Says) but it is always RIGHT!
EX: Noah and his family
Sodom and G.
The plagues that fell on Egypt
the population is not always right! I feel in my heart this is right well The Word of God says that the heart is deceitful than who can know it! We have to study the Word not Read it! The Bible never says to read it it always says study search the Scriptures!
But I'm one of the few people that will STAND UP FOR JESUS and the BIBLE!
This is how I learned if , IF the Bible contridicts it's self it;s not the Bible it's YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anthropologically speaking religion serves two functions - to explain the world and to create morality to ensure social control. In these ways all religions are alike. Christianity as a monotheistic religion is relativly unique (Judaism having similar origins) Don't get me wrong - I do agree with the response above - it is culturally insensitive to say that Judaism is Christianity without Jesus. But I think the real point of your question is this: disoutation of the 'divinity' in the Bible. My response to that is this:
It does not matter whether you believe that Jesus was real etc. what is significant is his message - that we should try to emulate the 'sinless' life that he lived (irrespective of whether there is proof that he lived or that he lived in that way.) That we should try to give of ourselves to the well being of society as a whole in the way that he 'sacrificed himself to save us.' Its really about faith...How you interpret this is up to you.

There are some basic similiarities between many of the major religions. Most of them, for example, have some form of "The Golden Rule." But they aren't the same.
I don't know why people are afraid. I guess if they admit that religions are different then they have to look at why each religion believes (in some way shape or form) that it is right. That gets to be heavy stuff, especially if you are trying to be open and non-judgemental.

Man, as a whole, is very self-serving and only interested in that that serves his own needs. I think we can all agree that we all came from the same source. We all know that love and compassion for your fellow man is the name of the game. We all know that to serve in the name of our creator is an honer. Yet we argue and quibble about our understanding of the smaller points of faith. Yes, I said the smaller points. Is the truth not in the message, or is it in the how and who of it? I personally don't care what you call your God so long as your kind and compassionate to those around you. I don't care if you see Jesus as your savior, or if you see him as a prophet, so long as you have heard his message and have taken it to heart. It is these differences that divide us and conversely the similarity's that draw us together. As the world is getting so much smaller these days, is it not time for us to recognize that in the end we are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of our creator?

Name an idea from Christianity that was not copied from a previous religion. I Know your not capable of answering that question because you probably have never read anything other that what your church approves of you reading. You are not willing to comprehend an answer because your weak faith is to fragile to consider any other idea. Your weak faith has to hide in ignorance and you need to tell yourself that everyone else has to be wrong because if one card came out the whole house of cards will tumble. What your saying is that God is an idiot that he is not capable of talking to his children in cultural context that they can understand. Why would God talk to a man who has lived in a jungle his whole life in way that a Bedouin who has lived in a desert his whole life could only understand. Your saying God is a Idiot and he only speaks one language. God speaks to you in the context your capable of understanding. Virgin birth and the like, he talks to others the way they can understand. He is God, he is in charge, he made the world, with differ ant cultures and he is able to speak to his children without your help he is God. you are not. Why dont you do what Jesus told you to do and not judge others and to clean your own house and worry about your sin. You are acting like the pharisees.

Yes, there are a great many differences between the various religions, as well as similarities.
Example: One religion will teach that there Is Only 1 God, while another will teach that there is numerous gods & goddesses.

If you look at the basics of all religions, they are the same. each one worships a higher being, each has a really good dude in there and so on, even in polytheism on higher being always rules over the others. all religions follow the same basic guidelines, and so do tv shows.

Actually the christian myths are naive and elementary. Religious syncretism is the only hope for you moronic christians and islamists, but you would reject the one sensible option to escape your dogma. Burn your bibles and korans. Save humanity from religious terrorists.

wow I like that, the way I see it is if your religion claims to follow the Bible, then follow the Bible to the fullest, like I want to know how many people still follow the Sabbath? or how many people actually pay attention to the laws in leviticus?

I think it is good to learn about other Faiths as long as you are strong in your own faith, and want let anyone deceive you. As long as they can back it up with the Holy Bible and it not just there opinions.
