In Australia there seems to be a shift away from idolising sports people given their general poor behaviour.

I agree with that. Most sports personalities in the USA are not what you would call decent people.

Well... you asked a question and that was ARE sports people role models? I do not know how to answer. They tend to be for some people but I certainly DO NOT see them as any type of model.. certainly not a ROLE model

I don't think one can generalize.....look at the Tiger Woods foundation....how about Phil Michaelson, or David Robinson with his foundation.....there are still plenty of good roll models in sports....try making a list.....LOTS OF THEM

i don't think so at all... people believe that if you were athelic you don't need an education, you can play a game and go make mad money...they make these charities...yes it helps the people..but it is a way to clear up a lot of owed taxes/and make it look like they care...it is in the contracts...to donate to poverty in you local area......plus...they think they are untouchible...who else can kill two people an get away with it....when a regular person can go to jail...just for speeding...
