Ok so my bottle of mayo says it expires on the 7th of this month. Today being the 5th I'm a little skeptical as to whether or not it's still good. would you use it?

I would use it. And contrary to popular belief, it doesn't even necessarily mattter if it was refrigerated. With mayo, it is non-contamination that is key. So make sure that you don't introduce bacteria into the mayo - on knives, etc.

When in doubt, throw it out. I suspect that it'd probably be good for a few more days, depending on how long it's been open. But if you're not sure or it's been open for quite awhile, pitch it.

A new jar of mayo is a heck of a lot cheaper than a trip to the hospital for food poisoning,

Most foods are good for up to seven days after the expiration date on them, as this is a government mandated bill to put expiration dates on all foods, so as the consumer is aware of all products shelf life.
Most dairy products & breads should not be used past the expire date, as they can form a mold or fungi in them. That would include your mayo. yogurt, cheese, butter etc.
Deli meats are usually good for 7 days if refrigrated when purchased & not left out too long on a counter.
Juices are another product that should not be consumed after the expiration date, as juce builds up amino acids when left too long after expirey date. (Cause you a bad case of stomach ache if you drink after expiry date.) And we all know milk can sour real quickly if not kept refrigated after each & every use.
Like someone else said "If in Doubt, Toss Out."
P.S. Frozen entrees are another no-no after exp./dt.
Bottled water just has an expirey date on it because it's mandated, or so Evian told me on a e./mail I sent them on this exact topic. Thet say water is usually good for a long life span, they just have to post dates to get it past the food & drug administration guidelines.
Good- Luck & keep checking all foods when shopping for their expirey dates, as I do because they are there for our benefit.****R./CAT:>>>>

I think it's safe, because they make a safe expiration date after the expiration on the bottle.!

Good luck.

The date is merely a suggestion. Eat it, and Tomorrow, you don't have the runs, it was good. Seriously, if it looks and smells ok, it probably is ok.

If it's been constantly refrigerated, there's no funky colors or weird smell, then it's fine.
