If you are asking if it will become the language that everyone speaks as their primary language, then the answer is probably no. People have their own languages and are happy about it. but it is and will most likely continue to be the lang. used for international communication because so many people already use it that way.

It's unfortunate that English is now seen as the global language! The most commonly used language in the world is Mandarin Chinese! However the influence of English is undeniable. Through means such as the discovery of countries in previous centuries English, in its many varieties, has spread. English is now used as the main langauge for many things, such as aviation, and even Eurovision. Not a bad achievement for a language that was actually manufactured from the roots of Germanic, French, Greek and Latin languages over a period of about 1000 years! None of the main language is really original. Furthermore, one of the interpretations to English being the global language is that its the only one that people bother to learn. Being English we have to learn it, and so many European children learn it that its spreading at an unbelievable pace! However, is it merely because so few English people learn languages nowadays? How hard do foreigners have to work to communicate with us?

English is already the first truly global language.
Mandarin is spoken by the most people in the world, but it is spoken only in small geographical areas.
English is the most widely spoken language; an English speaker can be found in almost any area of any country in the world. French is still the second most widely spoken language, but it might be eclipsed in the near future by Spanish.

Mandarin Chinese may be a first language for more people on the planet than any other, but English has already become the number one second language in the world. So it's only a matter of time.

English has been the language of the sea for hundreds of years.
I partially agree with you. English may be as close to the first global language as we will ever have, but people will still continue to speak their own native languages.
I lived among Navajo people for many years. Many of them speak no English at all, and many more can speak only a very little.

English is the international language of aviation (look it up!)
I agree that it will be widely used in business, but so will Japanese & Mandarin. One may win out as the most commonly used, but people will still use their local languages for most daily communications.

I think English is very possible. If you go to another country, say Spain, almost everyone there speaks at least a little English. Tourist attractions have fluent English speakers. BRING ON THE ENGLISH!
