This is a car that has a huge problem with the fuse box. If you jump it at the box and it runs it may be time for a new one. Also check your grounds are they clean and tight?

Check to see if your car has those automatic seat belts. These things had a switch in them that enable the fuel pump relay. Over time many of these switches failed so that even with the seat belt on and in position, the car would not start.

The fusebox is another possibility, there are known to have corrosion problems over time.

since your said interm. i'm going to assume it cuts out while running, probably needs a new pump. if its like my 85 gti, pull the mat back in the truck, a cover will be in their, open it and pull out the fuel sender/pump assembly and replace it...their may be a 2nd pump underneath the car but i'm not sure about that model.

You either have a short in the wiring system, or someone had put the wrong amp fuse in its place.
