For the kind lady at the end. No no priest has ever harmed me nor my family. I just do not agree that normal heterosexual males would resort to molesting little boys.I believe that these are deviants.

They may well have started out to be normal males and females but something happened during the progression of their learning about sexuality that turned their desires towards children. Maybe some of them have a Peter Pan complex and never want to grow up and therefore they see children as their peer group even though they themselves may be well into their 20's or 30's. However, once your mind has been taught that these are normal urges it is near to impossible to retrain the brain. sometimes it is caused as part of a cycle of abuse from their homes. Other times nobody can really pinpoint the whys and wherefores. The simple fact remains that pedophiles are monsters who prey on the innocent and steal away other children's youths and should be locked away forever. They do not deserve to be given another chance to ruin another innocent life.

I have no idea what motivates pedophiles. It is totally incomprehensible to me. I don't understand how anyone could be turned on sexually by a child, and if they actually were, how they could entertain such urges.
Whatever the case, they ought to turn themselves over to a mental health institution or the like, and restraints should be placed on them so that they never are allowed to be near children. They ought to willingly undergo this. I mean, if I had some sick tendency to harm children that I feared I couldn't control, I would willingly submit to being monitored and restrained so that I could not cause them any harm.

I actually did a paper on Pedophiles in college and the final conclusion that I came up with is that people who are pedophiles have a disorder. Being a Pedophile is a sickness, a disease that is not curable but treatable. Those who have the urges to have sex with children is wrong and worse if they act upon those feelings.

By what standard do you measure "normal?" They are people... they simply have a mental disorder. Yea, what they do is sick and hurts others, but they are still people. a lot of times they do what they do because they themselves were attacked as children, was that their fault? Did they somehow bring that on themselves because they too wanted to molest children when they grew up? This is a very very complicated question that can't be answered generally with a yes or no answer as you would probably like it to be. It's the same with murderers... you never expect most of them to be capable of such things. People are people and we are shaped by our life experiences as well as our makeup from birth. It's easy to call someone evil when you know nothing about them. Have a chat with a criminal some day, you might be quite surprised.

Pedophiles are normal people that stop developing sexually at an early point in their lives due to some traumatic experience.....such as being raped or being molested...... and thus they are attracted to children that are the age they were when they stopped developing sexually. Some people are able to keep from acting out their sexuality on children and some are not.......

I think it is a form of mental illness. Many pedophiles ask friends and family to make sure they keep children away from them, because they are afraid of what they might do to them. Also, we just found out that the guy across the street, who is a super nice guy, gives of himself in every way, will go out of the way to help you, is a registered child sex offender. Talk about a shock! However, I can just see in him that it is probably a sickness that he suffers from.

when an 18 yr old has sex with a 17 yr old... and gets caught, tried and sentenced... he/she is a pedophile for life.... is that any different than a 19 yr old with an 18 yr old? Although both the person having sex with the 17 yr old and the one doing bad things with really young kids are the same, can they both be classified as normal or abnormal? why does society put them in the same category?

Pedophiles are NOT normal males and females! Easily removed from the population - permanantly. No one will miss a person that abuses children.
