My dad was the leader of our house when I was growing up and let me tell ya....he was not above using fear to teach us that we WERE going to respect authority.
We had the fear of God put into us by that man. We knew exactly what would happen if we were disrespectful and the fear of that alone kept us respectful and obedient

Japan, you are allowed to be held by the police for 72 hours before you are allowed to make a phone call. there is a reason why Japan has a 90% crime solving rate.... There are good reasons to rule by fear....
