I know exactly what you mean. a lot of people here thinks that if you don't believe in god, you must believe the evolution theory, and that you have no ethics.
it gets really annoying.

I can easily imagine someone might be atheist but not believe in Evolution. After all, the propaganda against Evolution has gotten so much publicity that we have people like Em who seeminly honestly believes that Evolution can be summed up as "A cell was floating around one day when it decided to start growing and changed its DNA into something totally different." If all you have been exposed to is the propaganda against Evolution, then why would you believe it?
I would like to believe that most atheists understand logic and the scientific method, in which case if they have been given a proper objective introduction to Evolution, they will certainly accept it. However, the are probably some atheists who haven't had a good education.

I hear you on that. I am agnostic and the way I view the world is in probabilities. I think that evolution is most probable because I have been show evidence and true data to it's affects. I never truly believe in a thing unless I have seen it with my own eyes or have done the research or experimentation myself and seen it to be true. It's just like I believe that the existence of aliens is probable but I will not truly believe it till I see one.

I borrowed this from James Randi's website.
Our most excellent and valued friend, Michael Shermer, is a prolific writer, and he’s hard to keep up to. I couldn’t resist extracting a paragraph – on the nature of skepticism – from his current webpage. It seemed rather special:
I am skeptical of the Holocaust skeptics, the HIV-AIDS skeptics, the 9/11 skeptics, and the global warming skeptics; I suppose that makes me a “believer” in the claims of which they’re in doubt, but “belief” is not a good word to employ when doing science. Scientists do not “believe” in facts of nature and history; these facts just are. We no more “believe in evolution” than we “believe in gravity.” Evolution and gravity are simply facts of nature. They exist whether we believe in them or not.

If they don't believe in Evolution what DO they believe in?
Evolution doesn't make sense anyway. I can see why some won't believe in it. I mean, c'mon!
The Big Bang Theory: Nothing and nothing was floating around in nothing when nothing bumped into the other nothing, exploded, and created the universe. Wow. That makes sense! *sarcasm*
The THEORY of Evolution: A cell was floating around one day when it decided to start growing and changed its DNA into something totally different. It did it again and again and again until the thing was MAN! YAY! *sarcasm* Wow! And look! A female of the exact same species! What a coincidence that two completely different cells decided to evolve into the exact same species within each other's lifetime! Because yah know, it would kinda suck if one cell decided to evolve later while the other one was still evolving and one was male and died before the other one was randomly female so they couldn't reproduce...yeah. But good thing it's such a small world, and it just happened to be soooo convenient to do so! *sarcasm sarcasm*
AND if Evolution DID happen...which it didn't...where did the cell come from? How did it get there? Uh huh. And how did that get there? Uh huh. And how did THAT get there?? Evolution gives NO answers! There has to be another way. Something/someone HAD to have CREATED something in order for it to BE there in the first place.
Read the Bible. It has all your answers.
"Why should I believe the Bible?" you might ask. Well...I'm not going to start another rant but go here: http://www.av1611.org/amazing.html It gives many many many reasons why you should believe every word of what the Bible says.
Yeah...I'm done now.

Most theists believe that their god is the 'cause' of their existence.
Atheists don't have that as an explanation of where they came from, how they come to be.
Do you have another theory besides god or evolution?
BTW, Evolution is NOT entirely "based on physical evidence and observation," nor does it go "beyond the petty bickering of religions and philosophies."
Theories, all theories, are based upon assumptions; that's why they are still theories and not laws!

Of course not and I am tired as well of the believers believing that all us non-believers of god and/or religion automatically are evolutionists. I myself don't care where we came from or how we got here, I just want to know why.

They are not the same. The two do not have to believe the same, but often do.
It's similar to the way people associate Islam with 9/11 and Christianity with hypocrites.
It's not fair, but assumptions never are.

You're correct, of course. An atheist may believe in any number of things, the only thing s/he doesn't believe in is the existence of any god or gods.
And evolutionary processes continue to make their unceasing, incremental changes in all living things, no matter what anyone chooses to think.

Most moderate Christians believe in evolution...of course you're a smart guy and probably already knew that. So, how come people always assume that all Christians are radical fanatics...the atheist are just as fanatical as the fundamentalist.
