Whats a good career to get an education for, that makes good money? Im going to community college in detroit, and so far I cant make up my mind on where to go, Im thinking about Graphic Design or Desktop publishing, but whats offering the most jobs right now that I can go to school for and make good money?

Talk to the career counsellors at the college. they should be able to give you an idea based on where your interest, strengths and abilities lie. Most colleges offer some sort of career counselling/career aptitude survey. Check that angle.

This is a personal choice. I used to live in Detroit. You want to consider that once you get your degree, you want a skill and a career that you can enter coming out of college and not just a degree. Anyone can get a degree, but the skill that goes along with the degree. Computers, technology, and medicine are always hot fields. However, that is the Motor City with a high unemployment rate and declining automobile industry, so auto mechanics may or may not be an option. Again, it is a personal choice.

Get into some type of health career. You could be a physical therapy assistant or even a physical therapist.
X Ray technology or Respiratory therapy.
You must like to work with people, even the crazy ones.

Actually, if I had it to do all over again, especially now, I would look into Internet Security. Great career in high demand. Whatever you choose, good luck following your dreams.

I think graphic design is much more lucerative than deskstop publishing.

Think of what you like to do. Think of what you would like doing on a daily basis and enjoy and it's your choice.
