How old is your DUI? What state do you live in? Those two factors make a big diffrence. In the state of CA an insurance company can only check for a DUI back to 3 years, where in the state of NY an insurance company can underwrite for a DUI for 10 years. You can try Progressive or your best bet is to go to an insurance borker, who may have access to subprime insurance companies that can insure you at a resonable price with your DUI. Good Luck !

You may not find much variation because of the DUI. Beware though, that Progressive's "competitor" rate information is not always current, so if you want to be sure, you should call the carriers they are quoting before you purchase (if they say they are lower). There are many factors that go into figuring your rate, including your age, driving record, in some cases where you live, in some places your credit. It could take many things into account that might make a difference other than your DUI.

GEICO rules. State Farm took my money for 17 years with zero claims, then dropped me as a result of a no fault claim. When I told them they couldn't do that, they said they just chose to "notice" the three speeding tickets I had at the time. State Farm is a bunch of crooks. Look at what they did in the Gulf Coast and got sued for!
I hate to break it to you, but with a DUI you're going to have trouble, and when you find somebody to write you it will be expensive. Take it as a learning experience and NEVER do it again.

I was with State Farm for nearly 20 years, but recently, they've gone nuts with rate hikes. I ended up dropping State Farm in favor of Nationwide Insurance a couple of months ago and saved about 30% (multi-policy discount applied). I now have 2 cars and homeowners policy with Nationwide.
As far as service is concerned, I can't say as I have yet to make a claim, but they were recommended by my mortgage broker and a couple of other folks I know.

Well, Geico is cheap when you're *perfect*.
Progressive claims to show you their price and the prices of their competitors, so you could try them.
IF you're ex-military or related to someone who is, you could try USAA. They're consistantly rated extremely high for service, inexpensive, etc.
Beyond them, I'd try State Farm or Allstate and just have to comparison shop to find the lowest monthly cost "the hard way".
