I think he shouldn't be teaching math. Math (up 'til you get to differential equations!) is straightforward and logical, and a teacher should be able to explain how to do a few sample problems that are of the same type as are assigned.
A math teacher should never yell at the kids. If they don't "get it" the first time around, he needs to recognize that, and then do a step-by-step explanation of all the principles involved!

I think all incompitant teachers should be fired.. I think all schools should have to prove themselves as well as teachers.. I think every child in america should get to go to the school of their choice.. instead of giving the schools the money for the kids, Attach the money to the children...Yeah,,,,Then you will see some changes in american schools.... It is the teacheres and the schools fault... My fourth grade daughter was thrilled when she heard her teacher Assingment.... She said cool I heard Mr Murphy from Riverside school district west in Taylor Pennsylvania..falls asleep during class..That is the greatest thing a parent wants to hear.. I remember in H.S. I had two drunk teachers that slept all thru class... Man things gotta change..

You should have seen 20/20 the other night on the state of education in America. Long story short. Public education is a virtual monopoly which means it will constantly degrade in quality until the monopoly is broken. Second, the teacher's unions are perpetuating the careers of incompetent and terrible teachers at the expense of your children.

Math is Hard - Saying on a Wal-mart T-shirt.
That is too bad that the teacher didn't even KNOW how to do what he was teaching himself and the kids have to pay for it. He probably should teach to subjects he actually knows, and have a substitute to teach his math lessons!!

I agree with you. I suffer similar similar back 5 years ago when I'm in school. Teacher can't explain properly on how to tackle the question maybe because they are not yet master the subject. Tuition is better if you meet a good tuition teacher

Well im a child in the 10th grade and i had many teachers do that...Math is a complaicated subject already and if the teachers not explaing it then yeah he's not doing his job. As my mom may do you should report it to the office, sit in another day and if nothing changed maybe you need to take it to the public or depending what grade your child is in...the PTA meetings

Unfortunately, a lot of Teachers, as Well as some College Professors, depend more on the Books doing the teaching, rather then themselves.

there are 2 methods.
1. let you solve the problem by yourself - without learning it first. you have to use your brain - as in the university.
after that - the teacher solved it.
so you learn to train your brain.
it is difficult - and the teacher should be a good one.
2 the teacher feed the pupils.
they eat easily - and put out wat they were fed.
no use of brain at all.
something new - no result at all.
what is the best - i think 1.
what easiest to the teacher - i think 2.
so' if the teacher was fired - although he was a good one (i think)
it is your lost.

I took a college algebra class and the teacher wasn't the best. She did try though. No one saw her next semester.
