Have you ever thought about the words "Jesus Christ?"

When most people hear the words Jesus Christ, they think "Christ" is Jesus' last name. When reality we should say Jesus (the) Christ, because the word "Christ" accually means Messiah, the deliver of the jews.

Please leave input about the subject. Thank You!

it's just a shorter version.
No, I didn't think it was His last name.

But just like we call the United States of America "USA" instead of "US of A" (some people still call it that) We call Jesus the Christ "Jesus Christ"

Even the Bible calls Him "Jesus Christ"
I.e. "James, a servant of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings." James 1:1

I never thought of Christ as His last name. I don't know of any Christian who does. Christ clearly is His Title of Messiah, Our Savior.

Never knew that some people think that...for real?

I don't think it makes a difference. I think that Christians have a right to believe in it being Jesus Christ. Not forcing the issue of
"Jesus (the) Christ". As to Christ being the deliverer of the Jews, it says in the Bible that Jesus Christ came to save (ALL) people from their sins, not just the Jews. He came to save all those who would put their faith in Him.

When the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Old Testament) was translated in Alexandria by Jewish scholars, they looked for a word that was equivalent to the Hebrew word Meshiach (Messiah). Meshiach literally means "anointed one." For example, a High Priest was anointed with oil poured over his head to consecrate him for ministry. These scholars looked to find the right Greek word to fit the term "anointed one."

The Greek word they settled on was Christos, which described how athletes would be coated with olive oil prior to their event. Since that was essentially the same action as anointing, they used christos to represent meshiach in the Septuagint.

Of course he is called Jesus (the) Christ! In the life before this one, He was specifically chosen to be the one to save all mankind from the tomb. He is the Lord, Savior and Redeemer of all humanity. Check the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. They all proclaim his story.

In most of Paul's letters he refers to him as Christ Jesus. I guess that would be more correct, like Doctor Luke.....
