This one's easy -- stop paying so much attention to what your bf's friend says! He may just have been kidding, or he may have been having one of those moments when a person just says something dumb - happens to us all. Just look thoughtful and say, "I've always thought I was more hideous than just ugly," then laugh it off.
Look at it this way - at least when the friend said you were ugly, your bf laughed - much better than if your boyfriend had said, "Yeah, you know, she is."

Show me a picture and I will tell you. Either (a) you are cute and they are just messing with you because you are a little vain or (b) you are not exactly hot and your boyfriend's friend is just calling him on it because he thinks he can do better.
On a slightly more conspiracy theory note, the boyfriend's friend might like you and is saying you are ugly as a childish sort of defense mechanism, since he can't have you since you are dating his friend.
