My father's mother was originally from Norway. She has passed away and there is no one to ask about information. Her maiden name was Legernes. I would like to find them...

Hey His Girl,

You can get copies of your parents Vital Records. To talk to someone, you should start posting and reading postings in GENFORUM on the surnames of interest. I put a few family sites that are interested in Legernes below. This should help you find people interested in the same roots you are. You may even find cousins.

I did find a World Family Tree for sale with your Legernes listed as one of the names. I purchased one of these, it was somewhat useful.

You may have to try some of these sites by clicking around, and searching use the EDIT menu of the browser, and FIND ON PAGE option to search quickly.

I did a search on Legernes in the LDS Family Search site - there are tons of records. Some will be ancestors, some will not be. But most are listed in NORWAY as you stated. You should be prepared to find a record for your mother's social security at this site too.

Best of luck.
