My cat has diherea and is puking. Her stool is runny, with mucus and blood. She can't seems to make it to the bathroom, so to save myself some cleaning I have locked her in a room with water that I can clean easily. Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this and anything I can do to make her feel better? She is an older cat, so I can't rule out something wrong with her liver. Anyone have this problem?

She was seen by the Vet today, but she wasn't this sick, actually she was fine today before he seen her. He took a stool sample and blood.

This cat really needs a vet. She could easily become dehydrated, even with access to water, because of the diarrhea. I would definitely contact a vet and maybe bring her to an animal hospital. They can get her on a fluid IV and give you a real diagnosis.

There can be any number of causes. Because the cat is older, there could be something as serious as cancer, but it could something as simple as a stomach virus. As cats get older, just like people, they can't fight viruses well, so they can get them often, and get them pretty seriously. Could the cat have eaten something like a toy, string, etc. that could be stuck? The blood in the stool can be from colitis or from straining (because of the diarrhea). MAKE SURE you keep her well hydrated, encourage plenty of water intake, as long as she can keep water down (if she likes to drink from the sink, let her). If she is still vomiting in the AM, take her back to the vet for IV fluids, so she can get herself back on track. Depending on what the bloodwork shows, you may want to pursue further diagnostics, such as x-rays or ultrasound. The most important thing to remember is to keep her hydrated and try to get some food in when she can keep it down. The only problem is that when cats don't eat for a while, they can get secondary liver disease like hepatic lipidosis that can be incurable. Don't wait too long for extra help.

It sounds like intestinal which could be a serious problem, you need to take your cat to your vet.
I am glad you took her to the vet. You should get the results by tomorrow. Stool/blood will tell what is going on. Best wishes to you and your cat. Keep us posted.

That could be a number of things, but blood in the stool is a very serious symptom. I would get her to a vet as soon as possible.

I would call the vet who treated her and took the sample. She may need fluids tonight to prevent further dehydration. Could she have eaten something poisonous? Since this is of such sudden onset I would consider it an emergency and not wait till morning.

The vet could have perforated the cats bowel when taking the stool sample. Meaning that he could have quite possibly accidently tore the intestine. Please take your cat back to the vet for x-rays to be positive.

you are able to desire to take your cat to the vet as quickly as attainable. If he's no longer eating or eating, he's dehydrated, inflicting him to become vulnerable. He could have a virulent disease, which in maximum cases a great style of cats get, and for the duration of him no longer eating water makes it worse. Take your cat to the vet because of the fact he won't be able to go devoid of water yet for see you later or he will die.

Is she an outdoor cat? She could've gotten into something poisonous, sounds like it could be antifreeze. Poor kitty.
