Eventually survival instincts will kick in. Your body will make you sleep. Unless you are an insomniac. Then yes, you can die. Your major body functions will slow down & eventually cease.

No documented cases yet, but logically you CAN die from lack of sleep, or no sleep at all. First thing to go if you don't sleep is your creativity. Then your sanity, then your ability to distinguish what is real and not real. Finally, as a compounded result of all the above, you might die.

The body needs time to repair itself at night. If you don't sleep for extended period, your body cannot repair itself, and all your bodily functions may get haywire. This may also result in death, though not immediately.

Get some sleep while you're at it. It's good for you and your skin, too.

Yes, you can die. The average human can survive 5 days without sleep. The mind needs to rest considering all the things that it manages in your body.

You probably won't die from the sleep deprivation.

However, it will cause you an increase in mistakes. The wrong mistake could kill you.

For example, driving a car becomes very difficult without sleep and increases fatal accidents.

Die of that - no.

There is a fellow with a genetic disease preventing him from sleeping all the 40 or so years of his life.

However for the rest of us, our brains need to get rest to be of good use the next day. Extended periods without rest can lead to visual and auditory hallucinations.

You would start hallucinating first off and then the hallucinations will get so bad they will start to take over your life and you will kill yourself or get hit by a vehicle or die from plain exhaustion this usually occurs after 2 weeks of not sleeping.

For lack of sleeping, but your brain would sleep while you are driving and believe me! you don't want that. There are two kinds of sleep modes RAM and REM. RAM is where you can listen and even think before you fall into full sleep and REM is totaly sleep. When your body lacks proper sleep RAM would force your brain into short REM tims and that is when you may fall into sleep mode even if you are eating, that is how people end up with their face in the spagetty plate. It is funny to see, not so funny to feel that.
